About Chris Schreiber
Christian Schreiber, CISM
Christian “Chris” Schreiber is a seasoned cybersecurity strategist and executive coach with nearly 30 years of experience supporting educational institutions. His unique approach to cybersecurity advisory services involves partnering with university leaders to demystify their current cybersecurity posture and navigate the complex cybersecurity vendor landscape. As a trusted advisor and coach, Chris is committed to understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by each institution.
Chris’s experience in higher education includes serving as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the University of Chicago, the University of Arizona, and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He also held various IT leadership roles at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and Central Michigan University.
Beyond his university experience, Chris has been instrumental in supporting numerous higher education clients while working for international technology and cybersecurity companies.
- At SunGard Higher Education (now Ellucian), he built new managed security services that were utilized by dozens of colleges and universities.
- More recently, he helped transform information security operations at universities around the world as a cybersecurity strategist with FireEye / Mandiant (now parts of Google Cloud and Trellix).
His varied experience in campus and industry leadership roles has given him a deep understanding of how vendor solutions can help institutions improve their information security capabilities. He is passionate about helping institutions understand their current situation, identify and prioritize gaps, and research what options have helped similar institutions.
Chris holds a Masters Certificate in Project Management from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. He also holds multiple professional certifications.
A frequent speaker and sought-after subject matter expert, Chris is often found attending and presenting at higher education and cybersecurity events around the country. His engaging presentations and deep knowledge make him a valuable asset to any event or institution.
